Texas A&M University Staff Council committees advance university initiatives and cultivate a positive campus environment by focusing on professional development, staff engagement, elections, outreach and assistance programs.
Committee Descriptions and Membership
The University Staff Council requires each representative to serve on at least one internal committee.
The Executive Committee ensures the cohesiveness of the University Staff Council, supports the achievement of its goals, and promotes active member participation. The committee, composed of the elected officers, provides information and recommendations to the university president and meets at least once a month or as needed to conduct council business.

The Branch Campus Committee collaborates with University Staff Council representatives and Texas A&M University officials to review, discuss, and recommend improvements to university rules, procedures, and Standard Administrative Procedures.

The Communications and Outreach Committee coordinates all University Staff Council communication efforts, including the website, listserv, press releases, and marketing materials, in collaboration with the Executive Committee. The committee works to enhance the council’s visibility and accessibility, assess staff awareness, and provide representatives with tools to strengthen engagement and understanding of the council’s role across campuses.

The Elections Committee ensures fair and balanced representation across classification and executive reporting levels. The committee announces officer nominations, conducts elections, and develops and recommends election procedures to representative units. It also assists with election processes as needed and presents any proposed representation changes to the full University Staff Council before each election cycle to maintain a representative council structure.

The Community Engagement and Respect in the Workplace Committee encourages staff participation in fostering a respectful and welcoming environment for all who work at or visit Texas A&M University. The committee supports the university’s mission and core values by promoting respect across the campus community and collaborating with other committees to enhance effectiveness in related initiatives.

The Professional Development Committee reviews and promotes learning opportunities for University Staff Council representatives each year. Working with the general membership and executive officers, the committee plans and coordinates professional development activities that strengthen the council’s mission and support staff growth.
Members
The Staff Emergency Fund Committee reviews and processes applications from Texas A&M University staff members, both classified and non-classified, who face temporary financial hardship due to significant life events. The committee operates under the leadership of the university president to provide limited assistance during times of need.

The Work Life and Benefits Committee works to enhance the quality of work life for Texas A&M University employees. The committee addresses topics such as safety and wellness, benefits, incentive programs, flexible work options, and dependent care. It also collaborates with campus units to identify and share effective work-life initiatives that support employee well-being.
