Texas A&M University & Association of Former Students - Staff Scholarship Criteria and Procedures
Employees eligible to apply for the TAMU scholarship must:
- Be in a full-time, budgeted staff position;
- Be budgeted for at least 50% effort with Texas A&M University (including those with joint appointments);
- Have been employed with the University for at least 12 months immediately prior to the application due date;
- Be fully admitted to Texas A&M University (College Station), degree seeking, and coursework must be within their degree plan;
- Earn or maintain at least a 3.0 GPR; and
- Have written approval from their supervisor and department head to be eligible.
Application Process:
- Scholarship applications are located here.
- Eligible staff may submit the application and essay via email to staffscholarships@tamu.edu , or paper to the University Staff Council at MS 1358 (attention USC Scholarship Committee);
- Eligible staff may apply for, and receive the scholarship more than once ;
- Applications will be accepted once a year, and must be received by May 31st for the following Fall and Spring semesters (example: May 31, 2012 for the Fall 2012& Spring 2013 semesters);
- Applications will only be accepted for upcoming semesters.
Review / Selection Process:
- The Scholarships & Financial Aid office will perform the initial audit on applications and determine which applications should, or should not be considered;
- Applications from eligible staff will be forwarded to the University Staff Council Scholarship Committee for review;
- Members of the Scholarship Committee will utilize an evaluation matrix to rate each of the applicants, and schedule meetings (as needed) to discuss the results;
- Notifications of award will be sent to scholarship recipients by July 15th;
- The Scholarships & Financial Aid office will apply the scholarship to the recipient’s student account; and
- Recipients will be invited to attend the President’s Meritorious Service Award ceremony for recognition.
